SREE HOMAM

SARANNAVARATRI MOHOTSAVAMS INVITATION,2011

Navaratri means ‘Nine Nights’. Navaratri is considered auspicious and efficacious for the worship of Jaganmaata, the Universal Mother who killed cruel demons like Madhu-Kaitabha, Shumbha-Nishumbha, Mahishasura and others. The following verse is quoted from Devi Mahatmyam occuring in the Markandeya Puranam -

शरत्काले महापूजा क्रियते या च वार्षिकी ।
तस्यां ममैतान्माहात्म्यं श्रुत्वा भक्ति समन्वितः ॥
The purport of the above shloka is as follows.

“By special worship of Jaganmaata and by chanting Devi Mahatmya during Sharatkaala (Sharadritu), Devi is pleased and showers all prosperity unto her devotees.”
Known variously by the names of Durga Puja, Sarasvati Puja, Navratrotsav etc., Navaratri is one of the important festivals in the Hindu calendar and is celebrated across the country with devotion and fervour

Among the various festivals celebrated at Satyanarayana swamy temple, Gaddiannavaram the Navaratri Utsava stands unique. With a centuries old tradition.
